Decided to put in a new gas tank and new fuel lines. I assumed the tank came out the bottom of the car, but it comes out from above. There's a panel to remove that's in the compartment  where the soft top would go if it had one.

That was easy to remove. I thought there might be a build sheet sitting on top of the gas tank. But none was there. I've removed this panel before, because once I replaced the hose between the tank and the fuel filler.

Perhaps the build sheet is under the tank.

I've often wondered why mice have never gotten into the car. Well there's a mouse nest between the tank and the fiberglass body. How in the world did they get into there?

Painted the water pump and the engine support Chevy orange.
Attached the water pump with stainless bolts which turn out to have Chevy bow ties on them

New water pump arrived. Painted it Chevy Orange.
Was going to use fittings from old pump and clean them up, but now I think I'll get new ones.

There are kits to rebuild the fuel pump but they're almost as much as new pump. So I bought a new one. The old one has some odd fittings on it and is not rebuildable. My dad must have adapted a non-Corvette fuel pump to it.

Decided to use original harmonic balancer. Painted it and the bellhousing inspection cover Chevy orange.

Cleaned up the intake manifold and put it on the block just to see how it looks.

Mounted the block to the engine stand. Actually thought it would be easier than it was.

The GM Crate engine arrives. I'm hoping 290 2014 horsepower is about the same as 340 1962 horsepower.
